Gable Conservatory

Solid roof gable conservatories feature a rectangular shape that maximises the space in your property. They are a highly popular home solution because the glazed gable-end still allows a significant amount of natural light into the room. This means that you can benefit from an outdoor ambience and a wealth of light while still having the thermal insulation offered by a solid roof. A gable conservatory provides the perfect canvas for an UltraRoof system, which is available in grey, brown or red to blend perfectly with your home. Rectangular glazed areas can also be incorporated to allow a view of the skies above. For extra comfort, the solid roof is plastered with an internal finish which does not completely exclude the outside world, making a perfect space to entertain guests in.

Lean-To Conservatory

A lean-to conservatory feature a rectangular shape with a sloping roof which allows rainfall to easily glide off of your roof. When fitted with an UltraRoof, a lean-to conservatory is stunning. The grey, brown or red roof slates allow thermal insulation so you can relax in your lean-to conservatory all year long. The glazed sections provide a clear and substantial view of the skies above, while allowing light to beautifully flood the extension. Due to the combination of glazing and panels, this contemporary home extension delivers benefits that traditional extensions and conservatories simply cannot. All of the glass fitted into our lean-to conservatories are designed to retain heat, so we can guarantee thermal insulation whatever the weather. On top of that, the solid roof sections are available in different colours including clear, bronze, blue, and aqua to give you further variety.

Edwardian Conservatory

Edwardian conservatories feature a bold rectangular shape with fronted corners which is characteristic of the Edwardian era. This traditional build allows an abundance of space in your home extension, but can leave your conservatory looking somewhat old fashioned. Adding an UltraRoof to an existing Edwardian conservatory creates a contemporary twist that also provides a surplus of benefits. An UltraRoof combines glass panels with solid roof tiles to give you both natural light and thermal insulation, consequently allowing you to relax in your conservatory throughout the cold winters. The front facet of an Edwardian conservatory roof is usually fully tiled, while the sides can facilitate glass panels so you can look at the sky from the comfort of your own home. The ridge caps, which are fitted where the two facets meet, are also available in a variety of finishes. You can choose from a sleek aluminium with a smooth surface  or what is known as an ‘armadillo’ slate which matches the effect and colour of your chosen roof slates.

Victorian Conservatory

Victorian conservatories are similar to Edwardian conservatories, but with a more rounded structure because of their 3-bay or 5-bay front. Both of these Victorian designs can be made even more stylish and contemporary with an UltraRoof system. The front can be covered with either brown, grey or red slates to match your home and each section can be joined with a contemporary aluminium ridge cap, or a traditional ‘armadillo’ ridge cap which matches the roof slates. On top of that, you can also incorporate glass panels into an UltraRoof in the two rectangular sections of your Victorian conservatory, to allow natural light to flood in. You can instead opt for a full solid roof to achieve a more traditional feel and complete thermal insulation. This is because the slates used an UltraRoof are designed to retain heat, while resisting expansion and retraction and therefore splitting or cracking.

The thermal efficiency of an UltraRoof helps to retain heat in the winter and keep you cool throughout the summer.

The main reason so many homeowners opt for an UltraRoof on their home extension is to create a space you can relax in all year round. This is because the technology used in an UltraRoof can create a comfortable room temperature no matter the weather. Older conservatories tend to be fitted with a polycarbonate roof, which can make the space too cold to use in winter, and simultaneously too hot to use in summer. Glass conservatory roofs can help towards solving this problem as they control the movement of heat. However, an UltraRoof provides superior insulation to keep you comfortable in every season.

Our UltraRoofs can achieve an impressive u-value (heat loss value) of just 0.12 W/m²K, making UltraRoof one of the most lightweight yet thermally efficient roofing systems around. On top of that, large rectangular glass panels can also be incorporated to allow an abundance of overhead natural light and views of the skies. For more information, please see Glazing Options for the u-values of the various performance glass types that we offer.

The most cutting-edge replacement roof for your home.

As a thermally efficient yet lightweight roof, UltraRoof is designed as a replacement for existing polycarbonate or glass conservatory roofs. They still offer the natural light you would get with such roofs, however accompanied with the thermal insulation from the solid roof panels. A typical replacement project would start with the old roof being carefully removed while the windows and doors are checked for structural stability. Then the extension is prepared for the installation of the new UltraRoof.

It is optional to also replace your doors and windows and re-use just the conservatory base to give your extension a complete new look and feel. However, if you do not already have an existing conservatory, or you wish to drastically alter the shape and size of it, you can of course start a completely new build project.

Replacement Roof

To minimise expenses and of course renovation time, you can just replace your extension’s roof and leave in the existing windows, doors and base. An UltraRoof can completely revamp your conservatory or extension with a contemporary look, while offering an unparalleled level of thermal insulation. In most cases, your current windows and roofs will be suitable to stay where they are. However, at Crystal Clear we will perform all the necessary checks to ensure you are in safe hands. Fitting an UltraRoof is a surprisingly quick and easy process. After the old roof has been removed, a watertight covering can be installed in around 2-3 hours and a new UltraRoof can be completely installed within just one working day.

Frames & Roof

With our UltraRoofs, the combination of thermal insulation, enhanced security and contemporary style is why we stand out amongst the crowd. Our designs have vastly improved over the last 5 – 10 years, so much so, that many customers use their UltraRoof project as an opportunity to replace their existing conservatory windows and doors as well. We give you the option to choose different coloured windows or doors, so you can give your conservatory a burst of energy. We also offer different styles of window such as tilt & turn windows instead of casements, or a bi-fold door instead of a French door. The choice is yours. Once you know what you’re looking for, the new windows, doors and UltraRoof can be easily fitted to the existing conservatory base, removing the cost of foundations and brickwork.

New Build

While it works perfectly as a replacement roof, an UltraRoof is of course equally suitable as a solid roof for new conservatories or home extensions. This is a helpful option if you want to adjust or renovate your home without relocating to a completely new property. If you wish to fit an UltraRoof to a new build, it is one of the simplest and quickest stages of the process and will reduce the overall build time significantly, meaning your day to day plans are not disrupted. Our installers can even create a watertight room in just one day, meaning that internal plastering and decorating can also begin much sooner. Finally, every UltraRoof is factory-made and pre-assembled during quality control, so we are proud to say that there is very little excess material and waste created on-site.

A variety of slate colours for your UltraRoof

As a slated roof system, UltraRoof uses polymer slates that are durable, yet incredibly low maintenance. They are available in a variety of colours to complement your home’s roof and the natural peaks and plateaux allows them to look remarkably like their traditional counterparts. There are three colours to choose from: terra brick (red), carbon grey and harvest brown. Once chosen, our polymer slate roof coverings are fitted very quickly, 12 slates at a time.

For further variety, there are also two types of ridge cap to choose from: an ‘armadillo’ style ridge cap which best matches the effect and colour of the polymer slates, or a sleek aluminium ridge cap which is smoother and contemporary. Many people choose the slate colour that most closely matches the roof on their main property. Because we also offer glazing options in a variety of hints, including bronze, aqua and blue, it’s also recommended to choose a slate colour that complements your chosen glazing. Whatever hue, all of our glazing offers varying light transmission and solar heat reflection.

We sort out all of the building regulations for you…

Should your project require building approval, it will be much easier to receive Building Regulations approval with UltraRoof. This is because UltraRoof is an LABC (Local Authority Building Control) and LABSS (Local Authority Building Standards Scotland) approved roof system, which will make the process as simple as possible for you. Throughout each step of the installation, our design consultants will be able to talk you through the building regulations and act as an intermediary to obtain Building Regulations approval for you. UltraRoof is therefore recognised by local authorities as a safe and suitable building product, which can fast-track the plans being accepted and your roof being built. Removing the complex and long-winded aspects of home renovation is part of our service to ensure your new or replacement roof can be built as soon as possible and complies with legislation.
